When we talk about saving money during Christmas, typically we're talking about Christmas shopping. What a tempting time of year to run up that credit card bill. Every where you look there is something or someone selling you something during the holiday season and rightfully so because most people spend the largest amount of their income on holiday gifts beginning from the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday) up until Christmas Eve.

So, having said that, how do you actually save money during the Christmas blitz? Here are three basic ways to save money during Christmas and then I'm going to give you my honest opinion on how you DON'T HAVE TO WORRY about whether or not you save money during Christmas.

1) Find a product you want to purchase in a retail store, write down the model # and purchase it online. Typically you can find substantial savings online because most e-commerce companies must move inventory to make room for next year's products.

2) Redeem unused gift certificates that you may have lying around. I'll let you in on a big secret. The reason why most retailers offer gift certificates is because they know that over 95% of them will NEVER be redeemed! Crazy statistic right? But its true. So, if you have unused GC's lying around, use them. They will significantly cut the cost of your shopping list.

3) Nothing like home made....make the gift at home. Shows that you truly love the person you're giving the gift to and will have more meaning than if you purchased the gift. Of course, this assumes you're crafty!

Ok, so there are the three reasons how you can save money during the Christmas shopping season. Now, here is why for many, they don't care if they save money. How and why? Because they have a business on the side and/or they have supplemental income. Being an entrepreneur allows you the financial freedom to not look at a price tag or at the very least, not worry that you can't afford everything on your Christmas shopping list.
