It's a good question isn't it? How many people actually keep their New Year's resolution? It's another way of asking, "How many people stick to their goals?" That's the real question. Forget that its a new year's resolution. Its just a goal that people start working on in the beginning of the new year. That's it! So, getting back to the question, "how many people keep their new year's resolution?" The answer is...who knows? However, if the new year's resolution was or is easily attainable, then the percentage of people keeping to their resolution would probably be high. On the other hand, if a resolution was something that cannot be reached within 1 year's time, then the odds are against that person for keeping to their resolution.
The problem is that saying something and doing something are two very different things. Saying that you're going to lose weight and doing it are two different things. Saying that you're going to quit smoking and doing it are two different things. Saying that you're going to make more money and doing it are two different things. Actually, let's briefly discuss the last one; making more money. Clearly, just like losing weight, the making-more-money resolution is a popular one, especially now in this current economy where layoffs are a common occurrence. So many people, in the new year, will be looking to supplement their income by starting a home based business, which is a wise thing to do because I believe that you should always have a "Plan B" in place.
Should you decide to embark on a financial journey that will lead to fiscal independence, then you must make your new year's resolutions easily attainable with regards to the amount of monthly income you want to achieve. By doing it this way, you will be in high percentile of people who actually keep to their new year's resolution.
